Meet The Chief
Chief Fred Yust II
Welcome to our website! I appreciate you spending the time to learn about our fire department! I'm Fred Yust, I've been the Chief of the Batson Volunteer Fire Department since 1985. I've seen big changes in our community over the years and have been diligent in ensuring that fire protection has been provided. We have been making huge changes over the last few years and I am very excited about our department's capabilities!
We are working towards being able to provide an "all hazards" approach to fire protection in Batson, Texas. What that means is that Batson VFD is expanding our capabilities to account for more potential emergencies without having to request assistance from other fire departments. This change is GOOD NEWS for our neighbors! We have a rescue truck with vehicle rescue tools, a grass firefighting vehicle, a tanker with 3000 gallons of water, basic water rescue equipment, back-up generators, network/data infrastructure, modern firefighting equipment, a building big enough to manage daily operations and a membership base that is motivated and constantly learning.
Not only am I the Fire Chief of the Batson Community, I'm also a resident. And I can say, definitively, that the Batson Volunteer Fire Department is who I want coming to my house if there is a problem.
With that being said, I encourage you to consider the men and women who are serving the Batson community as firefighters and medical responders. If you or someone you know may be able to help by joining our team, we need more healthy persons who are willing to learn! We have a great training program lead by a highly credentialed fire/EMS instructor who is ready to make Batson VFD full of certified firefighters. Not interested in fighting fire? No problem. We have several areas of the department that could possibly use your help, give us a call or fill out our online application and lets talk!!
We are here for you, please do not hesitate to contact myself or any of my members if there is anything we may be able to do for you.
